If we are being honest, the most painful part for many is the initial numbing injection. That quick pinch in the gums is often the only sharp sensation you will feel. Once the area is fully anesthetized, the procedure itself is mostly just a series of vibrations and pressure. The second most uncomfortable phase is usually the third or fourth day after surgery. This is when the initial “adrenaline” wears off and swelling tends to peak. You might feel a dull, pounding pressure in your jaw that makes it difficult to focus or sleep. However, as long as you stay consistent with your prescribed pain medication schedule, the discomfort rarely reaches a level that most people would describe as truly unbearable or agonizing.
